David Njoku
I understand if you picked him just for the sake of picking him. But, you maybe should have went with an extra flex, or an extra WR. Then, you could place a request to pick someone up in the middle of the season that was doing good. But, if Njoku is your starter, that's not good. Pick up someone like Tyler Higbee or the person ahead of him (Austin Hooper). Even Noah Fant would be better. Njoku literally wanted to be traded and that is not a good sign. Obviously, he wants to be a starter and prove that he can play. So, this one should make sense and you should stay away from him in fantasy.
Pats DEF
Now even if Bill Belichick does his normal black magic, this defense will not be as good as last year. It lost many pieces as I talk about in this article a tiny little bit. But, I will recap the entire defense lost: Nate Ebner DB (he played mostly on special teams, but still), Elandon Roberts FB/LB (keep in mind that Danny Vitale opted out of the 2020 season and Roberts went to the Dolphins), Duron Harmon (traded to Lions), Danny Shelton (went to the Lions), Jamie Collins (went to the Lions), and Kyle Van Noy (went to the Dolphins). It's funny how many went to the Lions and Dolphins aka Midwestern Pats and Southern Pats respectively. Even if they didn't lose all of their key guys, they lost a few. Another thing is that they lost leaders in the locker room.
(Sorry. I couldn't find photo.)
Robby Anderson
I know what you're thinking. This guy is good and he deserves to be on a roster. But, it's the QB that feeds him the ball and lets him make plays. Mr. Teddy Two Gloves is not the guy that would probably do that. My guess is that the Panthers will draft Trey Lance and let him develop. Since Anderson's contract is only 2 years, they are probably going to extend him. If we get into the stats here, Teddy Bridgwater had a average throw depth of only 5.8 yards. Compare that to Trubisky who had a 7.6 Average throw depth. Even Brees had a 6.3 since Sports Info Solutions started keeping track of all the data (2015). And Bridgewater can throw the ball deep when the guy is open, or he has a very clean pocket. All in all, I'm saying that Anderson's stats could take a hit because his specialty is deep balls and Teddy is a game-manager.
Evan Engram
Now before you hammer me saying he's one of the best TEs in the game, I politely disagree. He could be if injuries didn't hold him back, but there are these things called injuries and they do happen. He only played in 8 games. And in those 8 games, he only had 2 good games (100+ yds and 1 TD). Somehow, he is listed as the 6th best TE in fantasy for 2020 by ESPN. We all know availability is sometimes the best ability. If he can stay healthy, that might be kind of nice because Danny Dimes can sling it downfield to him. He may have lost a step because of the injuries, but most of the speed is probably still with him. However, he's had at least 2 injuries in his short NFL career for. According to sports injury predictor, he has a 59.9% chance of getting injured this season. If only injures didn't happen.
Jordan Howard
I did have Howard on my team last year and I will not lie, he was pretty good when he was healthy. But, he had the injury and I was really disappointed because he was having a good season (partially also because the Bears could have gotten a better pick in the NFL draft too). But, he went to a new team that is rebuilding, and the offensive line is kind of eh right now. No one on their offensive line has a grade above 64.5. One of the staters started in place of David Andrews last year (so he was the backup, but played the full season), one was a flameout who resurrected his career at guard, one was a guard who was a UDFA last year and had a 44.2 grade from PFF, and the 2 tackles are rookies this year. So, yeah. Not in the best position right now. It doesn't help create optimism when Ryan Fitzmagic was the leading rusher with 243 yards. Let's hope for the best though.
Houston RBs
I put both here for a reason. Last year, Duke Johnson should have have been used more in the run game, but he wasn't. he was a good pass-catcher though. He probably would have been used more if it wasn't for Coach O'Brien trading away an All-Pro receiver and a nice little 4th rounder for a RB past his prime (with a HUGE contract) and a mere 2nd rounder. And obviously be will be used because they didn't trade away easily their 1st or arguably 2nd best player for another player to sit him (the Texans should have at least gotten 2 1st rounders). I think what's going to happen in David Johnson is going to start, he's going to get hurt in thr middle of the game, then he's going to come back, and then cycle repeats until maybe week 8 when David Johnson gets hurt for a few games. Then might be a good time to pick up Duke Johnson. (Sorry David Johnson, but that's what the injury history says).
Any Eagles WR not named Jalen Reagor and maybe Desean Jackson (your call)
We all know what happened last year. The 3 starting Eagle WRs: Nelson Agholor (I found it hilarious when a hero caught babies out of the window because the building was on fire roasted him. Here is the link), Alshon Jeffery, and Desean Jackson were either ineffective, or were out the rest of the season early in the season. They literally had guys coming that were practice sqaud guys or weren't on an NFL team. One was even a QB turned WR (it was kind of a good thing because if McCown got hurt, they would have been in deep deep trouble even though they lost the game). The Eagles relied heavily on Dallas Goedert-who I have on my fantasy team- and Zach Ertz. So what I'm Saying here is unlike the Chiefs where you want Hill and Watkins, just take Reagor. Jackson is a flashy name, but he is a name to watch because he can still produce.
Rob Gronkowski
This is one that everyone is split on. In my NFL fantasy league, someone took him in the 3rd or 4th round. But in the ESPN one, someone took him pretty late. Maybe 6th or 7th round. I put him on this list because we haven't seen him in a video working out. He is working out with Brady, but we just havent seen him and that's kind of why I would shy away from him. We don't know is he lost a step, or he is thinner now. Also, we haven't seen him produce in over a year. But, he did win the 24 hour WWE challenge or something (sorry if that was wrong, I don't follow that much what players are doing during the offseason). Also, Tampa Bay has 2 other very capable TEs. Yeah OJ Howard didn't produce the biggest stat lines in Coach Arians system, but he knows it now. And Cameron Brate is also pretty good. Even if you drafted him, keep him on the bench until you see him produce decently. So, until week 4-6 should be good. But, stay away and maybe draft someone a little better (fantasy wise. We all know Gronk and Tony G are arguably best to ever play the TE position).
Le'Veon Bell
This one is a little cruel, but not so much. The jerseys and the offensive line were both pretty bad last year. They did improve a bit, but should get better in my opinion. It's kind of not Bell's fault that he did bad last year. Obviously, he could have some rust coming off of an entire season where he held out. But, it was also the fault of the O-Line. Bell likes to be patient and wait for the hole to open up unlike say Dalvin Cook. He is a hit the hole and go guy. The new Jets O-Line is a little improved with the new additions. In fact, all of the Jets line except for Mekhi Becton was added in free ageny. And even Becton was drafted. So this a completely new look offensive line. Because of that, it could take some time to develop chemistry with each other (yes the O-Line needs to develop chemistry). Even though all of the guys they acquired in free agency played less than 712 snaps except for Connor McGovern. They did have pretty good stats in not blowing blocks and stuff like that. So it mostly isn't Bell's fault.
Thanks a lot for reading as always guys. You are so cool. Can you please follow me please? I just added this feature. Thanks again and see you in the next one.
