Honorable mention: 49ers TE: Jordan Reed
I put him here as an honorable mention because he is probably not going to even be picked up off of the waiver wire. I know he's had lots (and lots and lots and lots) of concussions and probably shouldn't even be playing. But, he still has that love for the game the every NFL player must have that drives them through adversity. Also, he's on the 49ers. They have been decimated by injuries, and he could get some playing time. Coach Shanahan could use him in the slot and they are probably going to use him when they use 2 TE sets. Another reason to be excited about him is because Jimmy Garoppolo clearly like to use his TE (especially if they are wide open because of Coach Shanahan's scheme). Those are all the reasons he is here. Moving on.
Bucs WR: Scotty Miller
I'm going to be honest, I've never heard of this guy until today. I'm writing about him right now which is Monday. I was thinking, lets go find some deep sleepers. and I stumble across his name because he was developing great chemistry with Tom Brady. That's always a good thing. Also, he has blazing speed with a 4.36 40 and great agility too with a 4.02 shuttle. He has been making plays left and right and even the GOAT himself TB12 was praising him. Futhermore, we know what a WR3 on the Bucs can do with Perriman lighting it up last year. I decided to watch his 2019 highlights (which weren't many) and boy does he have some wheels. He's just all around going to explode. No need to explain further. ONWARD!!!
Pats RB: Damian Harris
Here's a guy who's been creating some buzz recently. Yes he was taken in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft last year, But, he didn't get that much usage. He literally had 4 rushes for 12 yards last year. Yeah. Not great. Howeeeeevvvverrrrrr, he seems to be putting together an impressive training camp this year. He could be pushing Sony Michel for the starting role. I don't think he'll be able to replace James White because White is the receiving back and 3rd down back. There is potential here for Harris though. All he has to do is impress Belichick enough to get himself some reps. Then, he can capitalize on those and earn more and more reps.
Pats WR: Gunner Olszewski
I don't like to put 2 players from the same team on this list, but I have to. I just have to put him on here when he's the second best WR in the Patriots camp so far. But the thing is, he's only been a WR for 2 years. Gunner played CB at a DII school, then tried out for the Vikings and Patriots at a minicamp, and finally ended up with the Pats when one of their OTs retired and they had a spot open up (incredible). I do love his story (and work ethic), but that's not the reason he's on this list. It's because he has been shining in camp. He has been catching footballs way better than last year and is running better routes. It's also a good thing when veterans like Edelman are praising you. All around, a very very very promising person to keep your eye on.
Rams WR: Van Jefferson
I know that he's not super super super unknown, but he's relativity unknown. Even I forgot he was a second round pick. But, it looks like he is ready to break out. With Cooper Kupp on one side, I think he will be able to do a lot of damage with his impeccable route running and dangerous speed. His father is a WR coach so if Jefferson needs anything on the fly, I think he has someone that is ready to help him (even from the other side of the country). It's not just how good he was in college though, he seems to be doing very well in training camp. Everyone is praising him on his maturity and his talent at WR. All in all, just a really good person to be keeping your eye on if one of your WRs is not doing very well.
Washington Football Team TE: Logan Thomas
This guy is the epitome of Hibernation, If the other guys are hibernating, he is in a deep sleep chamber that keeps him asleep until at least 3/4 of the way through the season. I do understand if you have never heard of him at least until Sunday or Monday of this week. He was drafted by the Cards 120th overall (4th round) in the 2014 NFL Draft, then he was claimed by the Dolphins off of waivers in 2015, he was claimed yet again off of waivers in 2016 by the Giants, later that year he was picked up by the Lions, 2 days later he was signed off of the Lions practice squad by the Bills, in 2019 of March, he was signed by the Lions again in 2019, and finally we are here to 2020 when he is on the Football Team. So, wild journey, but he could be good. He has made some very nice plays in camp (even though he got run over by Chase Young, but he's Chase Young. Anyone can get run over by that beast.) and he's on track to take the starting job. The next best TE they have in Jeremy Sprinkle. A plus is that they think he can block well. I think this is a recipe for SUCCESS for this 29 year old. Another thing to note is Dwayne Haskins looked very good himself the final 2 games of his rookie year sooooooooo (hinting at great things to come).
As always, thank you for reading my post. It means so much. If you could just take a few seconds to follow by blog and/or subscribe so you don't miss any posts (I even have a calendar anyway) that would also mean a lot. Again, thanks for reading and I will see you in the next one.
