Another week gone by, another post from me. And for the first time in a long time (I think), there was a shut out in the NFL. Not college, not high school, but the NFL. With the caliber of talent in the NFL, you would expect at ther VERY LEAST, a field goal. But nope, they missed that too (to be fair, Sam Ficken is pretty good and it was a 55 yarder). But, enough of that, let's get to it.
NFC North:
Bears: Either Nick Foles saved his best magic for the Bears, Chuck Pagano is REALLY REALLY good at defense, or it's all the prayers from the Bears fans while the games are going in because of how close the games are.
Packers: As a Bears fan, I feasted on Aaron Rodgers getting eaten by that D-line. I think football fans just felt bad for him though. Like that man was just oofed. His defense didn't do him many favors either (stop dropping Preston Smith in coverage. He will get burned in man by 90% of RBs).
Lions: If they didn't win against the Jags, everyone would be looking for Matt Patricia's house and try to bring it down.
Vikings: Mike Zimmer's defense is worse than I thought. I predicted it. Unlike most NFL analysts, I said they would not do good. BUT, I didn't anticipate it to be this bad. Their offense could have carried them, but nope. Kirk Cousins just game the ball out like game balls.
NFC East: (I don't even want to look at this division)
Cowboys: They will be OK with Andy Dalton. They won't obviously have as much of a running threat from him, but he knows what he's doing. And they must feed Zeke (so I can do good in fantasy). That defense must go back to high school and learn the fundamentals. Or else it's an early exit for them in the playoffs.
Eagles: Carson Wentz is the new turnover machine of the NFL. That defense isn't doing so bad, but they could do better. This team should just trade everyone and start over (the Bears would be a nice partner for Wentz). Travis Fulgham is my vote for MVP. Going from living in India to THE next WR. He had a pretty good stat line going against the Ravens. I can do a film study on Fulgham if you guy want. It will come over Thanksgiving or Christams most likely, but that's ok.
Giants: They won. Yay. I think they could do WAY better though. They almost lost to KYLE ALLEN. That's umm. Mr. Irrelevent did win them the game which is nice for him (Tae Crowder).
WFT: Just please trade Haskins and draft Trey Lance and do something that is watchable.
NFC West:
Seahawks: Russ is cooking up some nice TDs and magic. They had a nice bye week so that Russ could take a break. They should establish some run game though. If they don't have anything, teams are going to pour a lot of salt into his cooking and reduce his wins.
Rams: They suffered a bad loss to a team missing some of it's O-Line and that defense is in shambles. I'm secretly hoping that this continues into Monday. That defense is pretty good, but their LBs are letting them down a bit.
Cards:
49ers: They got a good win. If they keep up the offense, that defense won't be too much of a problem. And when I say offense, I mean Jimmy G, Mostert, Kittle, and Deebo Samuel. Everyone else is just complementary.
NFC South:
Bucs: They absolutely walloped the Packers. They lost to the Bears and demolished the Bucs. I like that. That defense is pretty scary even with Vita Vea out and Tom Brady seems to be doing very well of he doesn't have Khalil Mack is his face every 3 plays. By the way, why did Brady shake hands with the Bucs and Rodgers and not Foles???? Interesintg.
Saints: They had a nice bye week to figure out what is wrong with Brees' arm. Like is there a muscle that's working inconsistently or what's the deal. And that defense must step up. Or else next time, Tom Brady won't be so forgiving.
Panthers: Yay. The Panthers lost (sorry Panthers fans). They did some things well. but didn't do well at stopping that Bears D-LINE. It is so fun to watch the Bears again. Last year, it was kinda depressing, but now, they're putting on a show. The Panthers also didn't allow Mike Davis to get a good rhythm. DJ Moore with those drops didn't help. But those refs are bias. They called pass interference twice which were both ticky tacky. Exactly what should not be called with the new person in charge.
Falcons: They got a nice moral win. But I still think they should get something for the talent with expiring deals. They have to blow up that entire culture. Trade everything out. Start fresh.
AFC North:
Steelers: They look like the real deal. Chase Claypool is a must pick up in fantasy. Prayers to Devin Bush for a full recovery. He was a beast and will be missed on the defense. Nothing much to say. They absolutely dominated.
Ravens: I'm not going to lie, I have not liked what I've heard about Jackson. If he keeps playing like this, they are going to lose some games and become a wildcard team. Now I'm not saying he was a one hit wonder and he's now falling apart. I'm not saying that he's going to be a bust, I'm just saying they need to figure out a better plan. And they shouldn't have wasted a draft pick on JK Dobbins. They should have used it on a receiver.
Browns: OOF. they got walloped literally by the Steelers literally. The Steel Curtain is rivaled by this Steel Wall right now. And Fitzpatrick was DEFINATLY the right move. People now realize that when they should have when the trade happened. But the Browns got taught a lesson for being too excited about 4-1. Baker should stop the commercials and start working on that accuracy/decision making.
Bengals: They pulled a Falcons on this one. They can't be too harped on because of the talent level there, but kinda should be. They will learn a valuable lesson and if they end up picking Penei Sewell next year (and add some free agents), they will be a force to be reckoned with.
AFC East:
Bills: They shouldn't be worried too much about the offense yet. That defense though. I have no words. You have an excuse for the first 2-4 games. Your still getting your wings thoroughly stretched out and ready to go. Week 5 and 6, you should be at full swing. But the Bills defense decided that over the summer, they would take a break from football all together and not do anything. They seem to be worse at defense than the Dolphins (if we're being honest, the Dolphins have a top 10 secondary).
Dolphins: They are making BIG (HUMUNGOUS, IMMENSE, HUGE, COLOSSAL) strides (maybe that's an exaggeration). But they named Tua the starter, their defense is showing, that offense is going to get a boost in a different way from Fitzmagic. This is the team fans were hoping from a few years back when Tannehill was there.
Pats: They were hampered by a COVID outbreak, not enough time, and key players coming back after extended absences. They SHOULD get back on track. But, they might not make it to the playoffs though. I don't know. This team is confusing me.
Jumbled Everywhere Through the Sky: They laid the goose egg against a developing defense. Joe Flacco is not what he was in his prime is the only thing we learned from the Jets. Next.
AFC West:
Chiefs: They got back on track by making holes big enough for trains to go through. If they keep this up with decent defensive play, they will be dangerous. But I feel like their swagger went WAAAAAY down after the loss to the Raiders. If they can get that back too, they will be very very tough to stop.
Raiders: They had a nice bye week to recoup after the win. Not too high on the win so they would mess up the next game. They had some time to relax and recoup. Back to business though. Burning people over top, or making them pay for the underneath routes to Waller.
Broncos: They had a very nice and quite impressive win. The defense played lights out and the offense didn't get anything going. I'll give Drew Lock a bit of a pass on this one. He played the greatest mind football has ever seen in his first game back from injury. But that last interception was kinda bad. Other than that, he should be back to form in the next game or 2.
Chargers: Justin Herbert is SO FUN TO WATCH. Like probably funner than most QBs other than Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson (and even then, he's still up there with them). He'll have a VERY good defense next season and a better O-Line then. He will be even funner to watch next season. Get ready. It's just beginning.
AFC South:
Titans: It seems they wanted COVID. I think it has had a positive impact on them. Derrick Henry is now not just a Challenger 2 tank (look here), but he can apparently move like a cheetah. That literally sounds like putting Jerome Bettis and Tyreek Hill together which is scary. And the offense is just clicking. Tannehill was made for that offense like peanut butter and jelly were meant for each other in a sandwich. The defense could use a tune-up or else
Colts: They almost lost to the Bengals which is a little worrisome. That defense was good for about 5 weeks. Now they seem like they are satisfied, or overlooked the Bengals. But whatever it is, they can't pull a Bears against a team like this. Especially since we're well into the season now. Philip Rivers isn't as washed up as we thought too.
Texans: They kind of decided that Deshaun Watson would lead this team to victory and decided to let Derrick Henry have more yards than the NY Farts combined (their color is the same color of a fart so that's what we're going to go with). Bill O'Brien made a big pile of poop there. With a good offense, but not good enough. A decent defense, but not enough to blow it up. They are going to have to figure it out there.
Jaguars: Their week 1 win was a nice fluke victory. They are going down and down and down and down and down. Soon they are going to have to make a choice. Either Sewell, or Fields.
If the officials call one more dumb play against the Bears, I'm going to start a petition with Eddie Jackson to get them be fined or not get their pay. Like WHAT ARE THESE CALLS. SO BAD. I'M SICK OF SEEING GREAT PLAYS BE NEGATED BY THE OFFICIALS.
Anyway, thanks for reading. Every view is very special and is very meaningful. Thanks a lot for reading. Please subscribe and follow the blog. It would mean so much. Thanks a lot for reading and I'll see you in the next one.
